Traveling to Brazil During Covid

At the gate

I was getting off work and had no idea what I was going to do because I was planning on having more work on my days off. I started reading an article about places that I may be able to travel too even with covid.

It came down to really just Mexico, Puerto Rico, or Brazil.

Brazil has been number 3 on my list of places to visit for a while now so I looked into it and it definitely seemed possible so I called the company and asked for a ticket. They routed me through Miami. I rushed to the airport because the flight left in an hour and a half. It was 3 legs and took something like 14 hours total. All in all it wasn’t too bad. They upgraded me to economy plus which has some decent seats. But it’s still not nearly as good as first class.

I had some trouble at the gate as I always wait to board last and when I was trying to board they asked to see my health insurance, which I guess didn’t suffice. Brazil requires proof of “international insurance.” Your insurance must have international insurance written on it.

So I had to veeeeery quickly pay for international insurance which literally only cost me $7(about a dollar per day) and I was on my way. I got it done with maybe 3 minutes to spare. They closed the door right behind me
