DJI Mavic 2 Air – The Best Travel Drone on the Market

I have been using DJI drones for the past 5 years. I have owned the Mavic Pro, Mavic 2 Pro, Mavic Mini and finally the Mavic 2 Air. They have all been amazing drones. But without a doubt the Mavic 2 Air takes the cake as a travel drone. It is more portable than the Mavic Pro and way cheaper. It also has proximity sensors, forward, backward and below so it’s great for people new to drones or professionals.

Fly More Combo

Positives:

  • 48MP photos
  • Can record in 4k/60 fps(way more than you will ever really need)
  • Lightweight: 570 grams
  • Flight time: 34 minutes per charge
  • Incredible range: 10km(in real life I never find myself going more than 1.5 km away)
  • Incredibly rugged: I have never had a DJI drone malfunction due too a hardware issue or damage to the drone
  • Has activetrack for hands off filming
  • Packs down incredibly small. The folding wings are in my eyes DJI’s greatest innovation.

Negatives:

  • Illegal in some countries: Be careful, I had to lie in Nicaragua for them to not steal the drone from me. Just do your research!
  • Loud: ALL drones are still loud. But the new propellers have made a significant improvement. But it is still annoying to those around you while flying

Osprey Porter – World’s Best Travel Backpack

You do not need a 75L backpacking backpack to travel! Please! Trust me. All the backpackers I meet have done so and regret it. The Osprey Porter 46L bag is ALL you need for a months long trip. It has plenty of space, is comfortable to carry and will fit on any airplane. I have had mine now for 2 years.

  • Incredibly light: 3.26 pounds
  • Meets Carry-on dimensions: 21.5h x 14w x 9d inches
  • Sufficient capacity: 46L is more than enough for all your things for a backpacking trip
  • All straps can be tucked away: I use this when I strap by Osprey Porter to my wheeled luggage for work trips
  • Lots of pockets and zippers to organize. Your typical backpacker backpack needs to be totally unpacked to reach things on the bottom. The zipper on the Porter will give you access to the entire bag immediately saving a ton of time and pain
  • Osprey guarantee of repair or replacement for life
  • Materials used by osprey are indestructible. I don’t know what the material is, but it is amazing

Negatives

  • You will not be able to carry 20 pairs of shoes with this pack like with a typical 75 liter backpacking backpack

Kindle Paperwhite

Why I have it: Light, portable, and PERFECT for learning languages.

One of my favorite pieces of gear is my kindle. Before getting this guy I would carry around 2-3 books, each book taking up more than twice as much space as the kindle itself.

The other huge positive is they have backlights in the kindle. I use this aaaaaaall the time at hostels and while in airplanes. Then I can read any time of day or night and not bother my fellow hostel goers or airplane riders.

The main reason I decided to ultimately make the plunge is because I was trying to learn Spanish and if you download a dictionary and a foreign book you can instantly get definitions of words by just holding your thumb on the word. I cannot stress how helpful this has been for expanding my vocabulary in both Spanish and Portuguese.

I have owned a Kindle Paperwhite Ver 2 and the newest version from 2022. Some of the benefits of the newer model: USB-C, waterproof, warm light background, and a much quicker page flip. But any model will do! You could get a used Ver 2 on ebay and do tons of great reading on there!
